WE-CARE Foundation, a Liberian education not-for-profit, was founded in 1992 amid a brutal civil war. It started with a book chain program where people could take books from WE-CARE and after reading, simply share it with another person without returning it. Also, she hoped that as people (mainly the youth) read, they would be too busy to fight or hurt each other. WE-CARE can’t say if it really succeeded, but all the books available were always taken away. This evolved into the WE- CARE Library and the establishment of libraries/ reading rooms in schools and economically challenged communities.
Today, WE-CARE trains teachers, teacher educators, librarians, writers, publishers, and produces engaging and relevant children's books for the schools and the reading public.
